Activity Breaks in the Alpes-Maritimes with Thomas Tiber

This holiday is made up of 4 activity days, 2 canyons and 2 via ferratas with a day off in the middle to relax. The final selection of venue will depend on the weather, the general level and wishes ofthe group. However we are able to include two of the famous canyons of Maglia, Audin, Barbaira and Bollene. The Via Ferratas we can visit include Tende, La Brigue and Peillon.

Thomas will be your guide. He is a highly experienced qualified mountain instructor. In addition he
is a joy to be with – his love of nature and his joie de vivre are contagious. Always ensuring that you proceed as safely as possible he will guide you through exhilarating challenges.

Canyoning

Abseiling under showering waterfalls swimming through tranquil pools of blues and greens. Testing your courage with jumps (optional) and slides. These will be your means to explore canyons of extraordinary beauty in a constant discovery of otherwise unreachable views and majestic spots.

We will have snack half way down, continuing for an hour or so and will emerge from the canyon, back to the world we live in, feeling energized and refreshed in spirit! We will have a picnic at the end.

Via Ferrata

Originally built to aid movement of troops during the First World War, via ferratas offer a range of protected mountain routes using fixed cables, ladders and gorge-spanning bridges which provide a safe means of ascent to high levels normally only accessible by the experienced rock climber. You will climb rock faces with stunning views, cross gorges on rope bridges or zip wires. Following the simple instructions you will always be harnessed, attached and safe, but you will face your fear of heights and see things from a perspective only eagles normally have. You will be exhilarated!

We will have snack half way and a picnic at the end.

General

Each activity will take a whole day including travel to the site. You will have breakfast at the villa and return at around 17h-18h.

The minimum age is 12 and for Via Ferrata you must also have a reach of 1.7m from your foot to the top of your raised arm. The trips cater to people of all abilities. You can generally opt to abseil rather than jump. If you find the via ferrata too difficult you can opt out at certain stages. The maximum group size will be 8. All you will need to bring is shorts, swimsuit and trainers, sun tan lotion and sun glasses. All climbing and safety equipment will be provided as well snacks and the picnics.

Thomas will always begin with a clear explanation of the rules and always follow all safety procedures. However please note that although accidents are rare, these mountain activities carry risks, and safety is a joint responsibility of the guide and you. Thomas carries insurance covering 50% of a claim for adults (the other 50% being at your own risk) and 100% for children.
